Nexus
I used to love this game. When you created your character, you went and hunted squirrels for nuts, and rabits for meat.. That was cool. The storyline was excellent, and while the characters were very simple graphics, I had fun. However, I recently went back to this game, generated a character... and immediately quit. The reason wasn't the graphics, nor the community. It was the development of the game had taken a turn that made me sick. .I spawned in ancient china, during winter (which is fine) .. and was sent to kill alligators in the back yard...
Gameplay is very linear through level 99. All characters evolve the same within their class. However, you don't stop at level 99. Now you can exchange your experience for stat points and although you can evolve your character in any way you want stat-wise. Gameplay mechanics are elementary. Don't expect much there. The player base is a little on the young side these days leaving most adults starved for mature conversation and company. If you're not up to time requirements of the bigger mmos or if you have a low-end machine that just won't handle those huge 3-D worlds, and you're not put off by anime-type avatars, Nexus might be a choice to consider.
