DragonRealms is a complex, in-depth game that may seem a little overwhelming at first. Combat in DragonRealms is richly detailed and immersive, with many options and a lot of tactical possibilities that might not seem obvious at first glance.While there is some luck involved, combat in DragonRealms often requires you to outmaneuver or wear out a foe. You decide your offensive tactics -- you can feint and jab at your opponent, or make a daring lunge that may be very effective but will leave you wide open. You decide your defensive tactics -- evade attacks, parry them with your weapon, block them with a shield, or even hang back from your opponent while pelting him with stones, arrows and magic. Every maneuver you make in combat affects your balance, and the outcome of your next maneuver. With practice, you can develop a set of tactics that work well for your character and your chosen weapon -- although you may have to employ different tactics against different types of enemies.

Magic in DragonRealms is not as simple as waving a hand and making things blow up. The energy that powers a spell must come from somewhere, you must be able to handle it and bend it to your will, and direct it at its target effectively. The stable is the center of the horse world. That is where you can buy an animal, tack and food for your mount, sell your horse if desired, stable or locate your animal, receive training, as well as play with your mount. Visit a corral to pick out your new horse and ride home in style! Leave your horse at a stable, and he will be groomed and fed as needed. The Stablemaster can teach you the basics of horsemanship. He also teaches combat, jousting, and mounting a horse in combat to Paladins. Loading of ranged weapons while mounted he teaches to both Paladins and Barbarians.
