In Paris, there are generally a few ways to exact revenge, gain justice, or otherwise resolve a conflict. One manner is pressing charges against someone by bringing a case to the attention of a magistrate or judge as outlined in this chapter. Another method is by participating in a duel to the death. Both may be reasonable ways of gaining justice, but one should note that it is unacceptable to kill someone to exact revenge and then ask a judge or magistrate to press charges against your enemy for the reason that gave CAUSE to the duel.
The date in Age of the Throne is as important as it is in the real world. However, for obvious reasons, the speed of the Age of the Throne day is not equivalent to the time in the real world. Age of the Throne is an epic period in time, and events must proceed faster than they would in a true to life period, as clearly you do not have 20 real years to spend developing your character! For this reason, the time is Age of the Throne time is four times faster than normal time. That is to say, a minute in Age of the Throne lasts only 15 seconds in real life. Thereby, all Court salaries, which are, in fact, paid monthly in Age of the Throne time, occur every week in "real" or out-of-character time.
For a charge of 50 Livres per ride, carriages are available to all citizens of Paris. You must be standing on a street in order to hail a carriage to pick you up. Be cautioned that carriage drivers will not always show up in seedy areas of the city and you may have to walk to a street they frequent in order to get one to stop.
They also may not know or be willing to go to a location you want. It will then be necessary to consult your map and try to find the closest street or building to your desired destination that the driver will agree to take you to.
