Age of Conan

age of conan sreenshotWell AoC and WOW had similar budgets prior to release so they should have been similar in release quality but WoW  was and I would bet still is many times better than AoC. I'm just comparing both games at their 2 year mark but WoW did much better at polishing to that point and released a great game and two years out it really was "much improved". I played AoC from launched and liked it. Like everyone says graphics, combat, atmosphere, all great. I leveled 3 characters from different backgrounds to level 30 and it was great but then i began to run out of things to do and group quests were nearly impossible as the player base was quite low.

age of conanThe most annoying thing in the game ( PVP ) now is GM's not doing there jobs, They allow exploits and cant seem to control 3rd party program hax. Mainly I see hacks that hide players true levels so they can gank lowbies without being called a ganker or get killed by the RPers who kill gankers.  I also see this so called "God" hacks where players never take any damage. I don't understand how in a so called AAA MMORPG that cost millions of euros to make, how come an instanced siege with a player cap still has exploits and crashes on a regular basis after 18 months of work and an expansion coming out next quarter.

The selling point of the game for me is being able to explore a fairly accurate portrayal of Hyboria.  The combat is unique and interactive, the graphics and sound are amazing, and the classes are completely unique in most aspects. The quests storylines are good and this comes from a storyline junkie.  Both the random one's and even more so the Destiny quest line which is a RPG. In overall the game can provide a few hours of fun but its nothing much different than any other main-stream MMO.
